A study about buying, borrowing en reading books in Flanders shows that reading a book still is a very popular hobby. Numbers concerning reading, borrowing and buying books have risen. Books in general have a positive image and an important social dimension: everybody likes to talk about it . Moreover, friends and family play a considerable role in choosing which books to read. Together with the research results, a plan about a further promotion of books was delivered to Joke Schauvliege, the Flemish minister of Culture.
