The university library and Libis are currently preparing the installation of a new research platform, by the name of LIMO. The platform is still under construction, but a bèta version has just been made available for testing purposes.

In the Primo interface you can search several information resources at the same time:

  • the full LIBISnet-catalogue: all printed and electronic books, journals and databases;
  • the complete academic bibiography/repository LIRIAS;
  • PRIMO CENTRAL: a centralized index of data harvested from publishers and covering scientific and scholarly databases and e-journal collections licensed by K.U.Leuven or freely available.

As a result you are able to retrieve printed and electronic publications with a single query. Also, your results list can contain both (chapters from) books and journal articles, as well as audiovisual and other materials.

In the future LIMO will take the place of the OPAC and LibriSourcePlus. However, both technically speaking and content wise the product is still being developed. At this moment, for instance, not all functionalities available in the OPAC are present in LIMO yet. Also, the number of scientific and scholarly databases and e-journal collections covered by Primo Central is rather limited still. A detailed rundown of all e-content currently indexed in Primo Central that is relevant to the K.U.Leuven, can be found here; this list is permanently being updated as the number of participating publishers grows.

In order to give our users an early chance to get acquainted with LIMO, the University Library in cooperation with Libis has released a bèta version. We welcome any comments on the platform: compliments, critical observations, helpful suggestions for improvement, … You are invited to send those using the ‘Feedback’ button found in the top right corner on every page.
